That’s a smile if I’ve ever seen it. This is a picture from William’s XC meet the other day (where he broke 18 minutes!! Go William!), waiting for him to take off. I’m a broken record at this point, but man, that smile is so cute. His sweatshirt is an oldie from the kind people at Emoi Emoi.
And for some reading…

You know those days when you foolishly try to get a lot done, like you make this unreasonably long (shame on you, really) to-do list and your expectations are high? This was one of those days. I was going to conquer the world! But I succumbed to what I’m pretty sure are two-year old molars. They laughed in the face of my to-do list.
I don’t get to Rockport very often, even though it’s really a perfect day trip, even a half-day trip, as it’s not that big of a commitment driving wise, parking isn’t an issue, and it’s a simple (and lovely) drive to actually get there. I’m not sure why it’s not on my radar. Is my mind only on some sort of a north-south wavelength? Rockport is east, about as far as you can go nearby, unless you’re going south and then east and you hit the Cape (
There’s not a person in the world who feels more keenly the need to document memories than me. It goes beyond that, actually. It’s a pressure, a burden even! What I’m less good at is backing them up in such a way that they’re both safe and accessible. And the technology is always changing–from what was once film cameras or video cameras now to our iPhones or DLSRs. Add to that, our way of archiving it all is vastly different. Hard drives, iClouds, Dropbox, this and that, the options are endless. Honestly, I find the whole conversation and process exhausting. It’s one of the most important things we should do, but where do we begin?! I have a ton of those photo albums with the plastic sleeves from my childhood, but they’re big and bulky and shoved away in a box in the basement. I have a few hard drives scattered about but are they up to date? Are they even working properly?! Are you tired yet? I AM. Enter
From the other day when we met some friends at one of our favorite farms. Ate cider donuts and the kids ran around before I grabbed a chicken pot pie from the farm store to bring home for dinner. These sunny fall days are the best. This weekend we don’t have too much going on, but Saturday morning is definitely breakfast in bed for Steve who’s
Since Parker has been going to school a few days a week, I get some one-on-one time with this little guy. It’s so strange, and so fun, to have him all to myself. Likewise, it’s nice for him to have me all to himself. (And, if I time that nap correctly, to have some time all to MYself too. EVERYONE IS HAPPY!) (P.S.
it’s that time! the time of year when bloggers dust off the ‘ol photoshop buttons and commission links and get to fashion collaging! grab your pumpkin spice lattes, put the funkiest looking pumpkins out on your stoops (really. remember the days when pumpkins were just round and orange?), and go take a picture of your feet with some leaves cause it’s fall, ya’ll!
1// Breaking Bad: I’m finally watching this how many years after it aired? I don’t even know. I tried it, sometime after I had Parker, and only a few episodes in there was a scene that was too upsetting to me (#wuss). In my defense, I think when I’m newly postpartum I have a harder time watching certain things. So, I revisited and now I’m into Season 4. It’s such a good show, though completely crazy and troubling too. And complicated! I feel like we could unpack the decisions Walt and Jeses are making and the morality of them for days. (Should we start something of a Breaking Bad book-club?)

The day began rainy and we had tentative plans for Boston. Everything was lining up, Steve had some time, and I really wanted to make it happen. I love getting into the city as often as I can, which isn’t often enough. With every change of seasons, there’s a new allure to it, a new energy in the air. Boston on any day is one of my favorite places, but in late September? It’s pretty near perfect. So when the rain stopped, we decided to go for it.
