I’m in New Jersey for the week! Annual beach vacation with all the cousins. Parker, especially, looks forward to this all year long. Tonight as I was putting him to bed he told me, “I wish everyone I loved lived in the same house.” Me too, buddy. We’re looking forward to a week of NJ beaches (they’re incredible!) and a fair amount of Wawa hoagies… woohoo!
Some weekend reading…

It’s been ages since I did a big photo drop of pictures and slapped a lately title on it, but sometimes it’s just necessary. So many things, so many of them undocumented, that I needed to come on here and get them out before my photo roll is even more packed with summery photos–the best time for memory-making, really. Mind you, my photo roll is also very, very packed with 37 of the same photo and the length of time I go between deleting the crap ones and actually loading the good ones onto my computer for safe keeping is… a very, very long time.
Living with this kid is like living with a crazy, hilarious, unbelievably cute little friend. He’s kind of insane but also so much fun. Can’t wait to take a break from school this summer and have all my people under one roof. Happy weekend!
01. I listened to a podcast while I was mowing the lawn the other day. Who else but Oprah’s. Within the first five minutes I was hooked. But then it continued and as it concluded I was left questioning it more than being on board like I was in the beginning.
This weekend is going to be beautiful! I’m hoping for some leisure time, but right now it’s looking pretty crowded with sports. I’ll fit a bike ride in there somewhere. What are your plans?
It’s hardly believable that I’m writing this post about this graduate. Our William is 18, graduating high school, and in the fall heading off to college (though, not too far!). Is there anything new to say about time? Or time from a mother’s perspective, anyway? I remember him getting on the bus for the first time, having been homeschooled for most of his life, and the nerves, oh the nerves!
We have a busy weekend ahead. Mulch delivery and backyard work and pulled pork-making and graduation-celebrating. Plus, all sorts of things in between. William is officially done HS! I’ll be back with a clearer head next week (hopefully).
It’s late May and it feels like things are just! picking! up! speed! We’re barreling towards the finish, our hair is not yet on fire. Banquets and senior nights and meetings and party planning and prom and then the normal parenting and grocery shopping and laundry and you get it. William graduates from high school this weekend, and I’ve already caught one quick glimpse of him in his cap and gown as he scurried out towards graduation rehearsal and it was emotional. A whole morning of it, complete with the graduation music? Goner. We’ll have family coming into town from a few different places, some friends, and lots of food to celebrate our graduate.
Memorial Day weekend! What are you guys doing? I was pushing for a Saturday hike, but Steve’s being reasonable (boring) and saying we need to stay home to do yard work. He’s probably right. We need to plant the arbor vitae! Any tips? Then we’re going to a low-country boil party with friends! Happy weekend. {picture of Anders very seriously reading yesterday morning. The things I get to witness as their Mom. Too much!}
Steve and I have been going to the gym together after getting the boys to bed at least twice a week lately and it’s been so fun (he’s always been going, but I’m just starting to join him.). We don’t sit and chat while we’re there, obviously (we’re there to pump iron! not to chat!) but even the five minutes in the car both ways, and then the eye contact across the gym makes it just a wee bit like a quick and simple date night and it’s been so fun.
