i finally made good on my promise to vlog.

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

i said i'd do a vlog ages ago.
(i thought it was october--
now that i checked mah archives,
i see it was actually september.  woops!).
back off, i never said it'd happen quick!
actually, sorry bout that.
i'll do better next time (next time?).

notes to self:
don't do a vlog when the sun is shining in the window.
and chillax with the hand-motions.
and 13 minutes?  really bridge?
a brave few of you will sit through all 13 minutes.

  2. I loved your intro... Vloooog! With a kinda sexy shimmy, to boot!

This made me miss you for real.

    Your teeth look nice, btw.

  3. you're so cool. i would never have the guts to do this. kombucha- just tried it for the first time! tastes like watered down apple cider vinegar. i kind of liked it. ha!

  5. I need to do this. It's fun to get to know the blogger this way and it let's your personality come through. Loved it!

  6. Well done with the vlog. I think it would be so hard to talk into a camera alone. You're pretty funny.

    ReplyDelete
  7. i watched the whole vlog and i thought you did great!!!! it was so fun to see the actual you!!!!! you should do them more often!!!

  8. Your casual little shirt and sweater is so hip. Cute vlog! :)

  9. You're hilarious. Lucy and I just watched the whole video (she really did watch the whole thing with me! and probably reminded her of tv) and afterwards she told me she'd love to Skype with you and Parker! I think after last week she has a little crush oh him :) but yeah, we should do that!

    ReplyDelete
  10. hahahaha ur the cutest!!! i last the whole 13 min lol great vlog!!! kerp 'em coming!!!

  11. This is the first vlog I've ever seen. I think you did great! Since I haven't been a follower long, it let me play a little catch up :)

  16. I LOVE YOUR COFFEE CUP!!!

Was that the rando comment? I feel like it was. You had me laughing my ass off during that whole "don't leave rando comments" segment.

Teeth. They look good. Had to say it.

And lastly, now I wanna know the family member details that were left out of the love story. But I won't press you. But I'll mention it anyway because the pressure will be enough. Just saying. You can email. I'll be waiting. You know how I check my email all the time.

  17. Hahah I love Gracie's reaction at the beginning. So enthused.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I watched to whole thing! I like knowing what your voice sounds like. Hehe

    ReplyDelete
  19. This was a completely enjoyable "vlog" ! Didn't feel like 13 minutes. The music was a nice touch. I liked the hand movements--makes you seem approachable. And in the non-creepiest way possible, you have a nice voice. It pleasantly delivers your adorable personality :) Great job! Hope to see more!

    ReplyDelete
  20. super cute sweater. just kidding. random comment alert!
my fav part was when you said you did not name parker after pee. actually lol'd. you are adorable as always. wish i had the guts to do a vlog...

    ReplyDelete
  21. You sound like I imagined you would, maybe I thought you might have more of an east coast accent but I love your voice!

I live in MN where there are tons of people of Norwegian decent so names like "Joren" (sp?) are normal here.

Thanks for being brave and vlogging for us!

    ReplyDelete
  22. This was really entertaining and I'm not just saying it. You remind me of a friend of mine, which is kind of a neat discovery! Also, I may be wrong, but I think you were listening to Coldplay at some point, and I have to ask, what do you think of the new CD? I'm curious.

Anyway, both you and E. Fantastic vlogs. I think they really do give readers a better sense of who the writer is and I really appreciate that. (:

    ReplyDelete
  23. Loved the vlog! I give you snaps for making it look less awkward than I would have made it look. I also like that I can put a voice to your writing now.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Bridget, I adore you even more after watching your vlog!! You are absolutely gorgeous and super cool at the same time. Some bloggers seem so different in their vlogs and it's a little disappointing, but you talk/act just like how you write!!
    More vlogs soon please.

  25. Adorable!
On behalf of Gracie, move those books so gf can get comfy! The rough life of a dog ;)

    ReplyDelete
  26. @molly, hahaha, it was like my oprah entrance. minus her big breasts.

@elizabeth, teeth. thanks :) you know i appreciate it. and i thought i told you this story? skype!

@nessa, sweater! hahaha yes. those comments. you know them.

everyone, thanks for makin' me feel like i didn't totally sabotage myself in that vlog there.

    ReplyDelete
  27. You're so fun! Loved the little segment about random comments. Made me giggle! Your blog as seriously become one of my faves!

    ReplyDelete
  28. your pictures are so pretty!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. haha, just kidding. but your bazoongas look awesome! i miss nursing.

    ReplyDelete
  30. You're actually incredibly entertaining, lady. Even when you talked about your day to day routine. I want to have that sort of energy about myself. Keep on keepin' on.

    ReplyDelete
  31. loved it! cute fox shirt (or at least thats what it looked like) i think you need to do bachelor recap vlogs! please.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Okay, I was also one the of the "brave" that listened and watched for 13 minutes. I teach middle schoolers so I chose to eat my lunch at my desk today so I could take a break from kids and nutty teachers' lounge ramblings. :) It was great to learn more about you over lunch. Good talk. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. You are so calm and engaging in front of the camera! I also love me some steel cut oats in the morning. Although I haven't had them since I moved very far away from a Trader Joe's (they have quick steel cut oats and I'm way too lazy to make the regular kind). As always, thanks for being a passionate and honest blogger! One of the best on the interwebs.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I watched the whole thing and didn't even notice it was 13 minutes. Good job... I'm down with more vlogs!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I loved this vlog and I love that you are so "real." When did Parker start sleeping through the night? Was it a hard transition to get him there or was it on his own?

    ReplyDelete
  36. @i'm b, i LOL'd.

@allycer, ohhhh, he is not sleeping through the night... no sir.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Love your video! I wish I could do a video and look as cute as you. I am too awkward of a person lol.

    xo. A Southern Bee Diary

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. I loved this! You're awesome! And totally engaging!
Also, I love the urine (pronounciation) story haha.

    ReplyDelete
  39. see all your worrying about vlogging was for nothing!

I seriously love the name parker. my babysitter when I was little had a son named parker and he was my first crush.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Gracie is just too cute and comfy here. I love it.

I'd say you're a natural vlogger. This is great. I think it takes a special person to be in your marital/parental situation (a strong person, too)!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Loved the VLOG! Up until this vlog and your section on parenting with Steve it never really hit me that you have been parenting from day 1 of being married. That is definitely challenging, but I'm sure rewarding too. I can honestly say that I love your blog even more after seeing you vlog...and you should keep talking Steve into doing one because that would just be fantastic.

    Thanks for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I LOVE YOUR VLOG :) It made me smile :) I have fallen in love with yours and Elizabeth's (E Tells Tales)blogs. I am 11 weeks pregnant and already not able to sleep through the night so when I get up I often read the posts you girls have made and get SOOO excited to be a mom :) Parker is adorable and I just love all the pictures you post. Thanks for doing the vlog--it was fun to put a voice with the face! ~Erin

  43. love hearing other people try the scandinavian R sound. I have a prof with the same name (except Swedish spelling - Göran) and I am still working on that pronunciation :) those stories about past comments were pretty great too! I'm happy to say that I watched all 13 minutes and definitely think it was worth it. I'm going to start saying laundry like that (lawwwwn duh ry) lol

    ReplyDelete
  44. oh and the email thing - that is most definitely me too.

    ReplyDelete
  45. VLOG!!

This darn vlog makes me want to hang out with yoooooooooooou.

Someone said "please bf while doing your blog?!" WTF.

Also - your teef look good.

    and your boobs.

    and I like your sweater.

and I can't believe your Dad thought you named Parker, "Parker Urine"

    LOL

    ReplyDelete
  46. Also, pretty sure the first comment on this post was a rando one.

    lol

    ReplyDelete
  47. Loved this! Also loved that Gracie tried to steal the show with the classic "stand up, spin around, render just about the same position I was in and then curl up in the tiniest labrador ball possible" routine.

Thanks, as ever, for sharing your little corner of the world!

    ReplyDelete
  48. @laurenjeanallece, i know! pointless, gracie!

and for those feeling bad for gracie laying on books- she was there by choice, lest we forget. but don't worry, i moved the books.

    ReplyDelete
  49. That was fun :) ps. I love your pictures! (Jk)

    ReplyDelete
  50. loved it, bridget! don't worry about the 13 minutes - they were 13 minutes of awesome. video blogging is a whole new territory of sharing yourself creatively, so well done, my friend! well done!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Great vlog! And I have to confess that when I first saw Parker's full name I called my husband into the room and was like, "hey, how do you think you pronounce this? It wouldn't be anything like 'urine,' would it?" haha. So, thanks for clearing that up, not that we really thought that for any length of time, but yeah, good to know. :) My Dad wanted to name me a first name with an umlaut: Hänne. Would have been kinda cool, right?

I'm having a baby in May so I love all the baby info on your blog... I'm so gonna be perusing your archives for product info and pregnancy info, etc. Just to refresh my memory!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh no, I think I wrote a meaningless comment yesterday about your pretty skin! Anyways I was thoroughly entertained throughout the entire 13 minutes! You should definitely "vlog" again!

    ReplyDelete
  53. So fun to finally know what you sound like. And may I say, your mannerisms remind me of another blogger who you may or may not have met earlier this year?
You're lovely. And the very sweetest part was your reference to raising your kids as one part of three ~ and caring what their biological mama would have wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Good times! Glad I am not the only nut who read Nie Nie from start to finish after seeing her on TV!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. it did not feel like 13 minutes.
really cool vlog. I don't think I'd ever do one I hate my voice when i hear it recorded.
    Gracie is adorable.
    xx

    ReplyDelete
  56. I didn't feel bad for Gracie laying on the books I was fascinated by how calm she is. My dog would be tearing that ish up!

Loved getting to see more of your personality through your vlog :)

Breast feeding question was super creepy.

Hope to see more of these here!

    ReplyDelete
  57. the breastfeeding question came from my creepy / good friend. she was being cheeky. not to worry.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ahhh I love your vlog! All 13, sunshiny minutes of it. It's always awesome to see how people are when they talk in "real life" after reading their blog for so long (because I think you get an idea of how someone might be via their writing style or whatever and then that might totally change after watching them vlog). Anyway you were pretty much what I expected you to be like, and I loved it (I already said that...). Anyway, now I want to go VLOG! Ha.

    ReplyDelete
  59. P.S. what was the blog you saw on Oprah? I want to check it out!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I watched it all the way through! Do I get a cookie now?

I admire how you view Steve's first wife as still part of the parenting trio. It's sweet.

You should do a vlog like once a quarter or something.

    xo
    Alanna

    ReplyDelete
  61. Haha, I was one of the brave souls who watched the entire 13 minute video! I think you did well for making a vlog! I think it's something really special that you still consider Steve's first wife while parenting all the children. I loved being able to see how you speak in real life after reading your blog for so long, even when not subscribed.

    ReplyDelete
  62. holy shit you vlogged!!

I feel like I've known you forever and it's rad to see/hear you in video form. It makes me want to do one.

    You're the coolest.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm always amazed to discover that you super bloggers (I have about 21 followers, so anyone with more than 50 followers seems pretty super to me!) are real people! Obviously that's not true. I know you're real. But so often I can't actually picture you, and many other bloggers, actually going about your normal lives and using verbal communication! :) Loved the vlog!

    ReplyDelete
  64. loved this! i enjoyed watching it while my little man was sleeping too :) I got to paint my toe nails & got to know you a little bit better at the same time! :)

amen to children being a difficult hurdle in a marriage...yet, raising them together creates an incredible bond too! love how that works :) I love that you said you love Steve and you like Steve...because if you've seen "how to lose a guy in 10 days" you'll know those are two different things ;)

and stephanie nielson was a huge inspiration to me too! i loved how real she was. and that she posted big happenings, as well as tiny moments that she wanted to remember :) I'm glad you saw that episode on Oprah and that I get to enjoy you lovely blog because of it.

    happy wednesday!! xoxo

PS - love the striped cardigan :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. PPS - random...but i reread my comment and noticed i said love about 15 times...that's got to be a record or something. haha

    ReplyDelete
  66. Bridget, I loved this!

You look super pretty and loved the way you talked with such ease. You didn't even need anyone there with you (although it would have been awesome to see you and Steve together). Love the bookshelves and how the sun shines in that room. So cozy in there.

I'm glad you finally did this. It was gooooood.

    ReplyDelete
  67. This vlog was great... entertaining, informative, AND you reminded me I have laundry in the washer that needs to be switched over. Win.

    More vlogging!

    ReplyDelete
  68. i love your vlog. and yes, i watched all 13 minutes of it.

i feel like we just hung out. it was fun.

    well done gurlfriend!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Glorious. I made it through all 13 minutes with ease, though to be fair, I was crunching on chips and guac for part of it. Might've missed a word or two. Your voice is deeper--sexier, truth be told--than I'd given you credit for. So good on ya for that.

    Guess I'm up?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Holy hand movement...
Only kidding, I'm guilty too. I talk with my hands, what of it? And I remember seeing that comment about the white rooms before you mentioned it somewhere else on the internet. I think she asked how you kept it all clean?! I'm all, 'clearly you didn't read it because one, it's a dream home. Two, if it were Bridget's home, she'd probably mention how she keeps it clean..."

I've had a few like that too but nothing, NOTHING, bugs me more than, "Cute blog! Follow back!" I'm not 12. I'll follow you if I like you, and since you said that, I'm now not even going to click on your user profile because apparently, I'm 13.

    ReplyDelete
  71. You are adorable!
Can you please do these more often?
    Ok, thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I love the vlog trend -- it is so nice to always put a voice to the writing (and the hand gestures too :) ). I bet Nie inspired a lot of people to start blogging. My blog reading always is one click leads to another...and I found hers -- it was right after the crash and I was completely enthralled with her story. Long story short, I started one soon after -- more for myself than anything else -- the side comments are always a nice bonus though :) p.s. I agree with many here -- more vlogs :)

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'm soooo glad you did this Bridget!!! I felt like I was sitting there having coffee with you or something, except not talking and just listening, obviously... haha. You are beautiful and funny in person, just as I expected you to be.

Also, loved the comment about Steve changing diapers and cleaning the kitchen being foreplay... haha!! That made me LOL. :P

    ReplyDelete
  74. 13 minutes of my life that I will never get back.

    No regrets.

    ReplyDelete
  75. i started to follow your blog to see updates on my beautiful cousin's life: kids, husband, dog, food, (not dog food, dog comma food) decorating. I have become addicted to your blog because: you're smart, entertaining, super cute and just may win the coolest cousin award (sorry other cousins). but for realsies - you are an honest writer and a now a voluptuous vlogger! keep them coming <3

ps i don't have a super cool link to a super cool blog....just me!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Just wanted to say I love your house!!! ; ) Great vlog - it was pretty entertaining for 13 minutes long! btw - your voice is deeper than I thought it would be. Sultry.

    ReplyDelete
  77. LOVE the vlog...you're a natural! Next time hopefully we'll meet Parker!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Ha ha made it all the way through! :D "I don't really talk like that", yeah I do that too often. Stephanie Nielsen is amazing and I love reading her blog too. Love the honesty, as always. Happy vlogging in the future :D

    ReplyDelete
  79. you are real! YAY! and yes. i watched all 13 minutes. you are gorgeous. and i want to meet parker. i was really hoping he'd wake up and start crying but i mean, i guess its good he didnt. another one please and thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  80. This. Was. Awesome. ha, you have such a natural talent for being in front of the camera. That stuff isn't easy! Can't even count how many times I've hit record, only to hit stop, and record again. And then stop.... once more, to throw the whole idea to the wolves. Anyway, kudos on the vlog, Bridget. Keep 'em coming!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I watched it all. It was great to "see" you. Thanks for sharing with your readers.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Your vlog had me laughing girl! The sun in your eyes is priceless. You will look back one day and be like omg, did I really sit through a whole vlog with the sun shining in my eyes! It was really good though! Totally not awkward, at all. I've seen some awkward ones! So round two, you can talk about parenting, do the kids watch tv, do they have chores, etc. I would really love to see the hubby on there with you though!!! I LOVE posts like those!!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Yay vlog! Though I don't comment regularly, I do read everyday. I love how honest you are about things. I really enjoyed your post on your anniversary, and how you speak freely of marriage ups and downs. I think I'll like my husband even more when we have a baby, too :)

Also! I like your dark walls... they look dark gray in the vlog. We just painted our house...light grays...and it makes me wish we went a bit darker in a room or two.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Your vlog was great! I was just thinking the other day about what your voice sounded like(other than the blog voice I hear in my head!), and now I know! It's a good voice though! :)
Loved what you said about parenting, how it's kind of like three people parenting rather than just two. I'm not a parent, but I loved that.
You should definitely do more! Too bad you couldn't convince Steve to do it with you! Next time!

    ReplyDelete
  85. @rachael, with enough coercing, i think maaaybe he'll join me.

    ReplyDelete
  86. you are magical. so is your deep voice. but i do wish you were breastfeeding.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Not at all how I expected your voice to sound! Isn't it weird when you form people's voices in your mind and then they are wayyy different, haven't read all your comments, maybe that's just me?

    Great vlog, do more please!

    ReplyDelete
  88. i loved it.
i am not sure what i was expecting you to "be" like, but you are adorable. you should consider doing these more.
    thanks for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  89. a. i've been smiling during this entire 13 minute vlog

    b. i think the age difference is sexy too haha weird maybe? whatevs

    c. i think the way you guys go about parenting (as in the three individuals doing the parenting) is an incredible way to go about it

    d. i love hansen soda (sp?)but i seriously need to cut down on the diet coke.

    e-z. you're incredible, bridget!!!

    ReplyDelete
  90. I loved the vlog! I don't think you had that much hand movement. I enjoyed all the questions you answered.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Hi- long time no, commenting;) I'm reading, promise, just awfully short on time as of late. I did, however, make time at 12:30am to watch all 13 minutes and enjoyed it all.
1- your voice is totally different than I expected, love that.
2- thanks for shooting straight, as always
3- why did someone want you to breastfeed while vlogging? weird. very odd (not the breastfeeding of course, just the request)
4- I didn't even notice the hand gestures? I'm such an animated talker too, so it seemed very normal.

    Happy New Year!!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Haha - I LOVE it! I feel like I was listening to a friend chat across the kitchen counter. MORE!

    ReplyDelete
  93. heheh -you are so cute-tad nervous eh. Yeah-got to about 5 minutes (which on my african line takes about 20 mintues to watch!) but was fun!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Girl. Girl. First, I love that you were born fly. Thanks for letting me know. Second, I watched this while getting ready for work this morning and almost burned my hair from laughing while curling. Didn't know that was a morning hazard but it is. You da bomb.

    ReplyDelete
  95. this is my favorite blog I've ever watched! you seem so comfortable in front of the camera - and so real. sometimes when people do vlogs I can tell that's not how they really talk/are - and not because they're meaning to come off that way, but I think more because it can be awkward to talk to a computer and be your real self. Heck, I am sooo awkward in front of a camera, I instantly turn into a total weirdo. so anyways! thought you did a great job :) hopefully you'll do another in the future!

    ReplyDelete
  96. i lovvvvved this! it's always interesting to HEAR what other bloggers sound like!

    xx happy new year!

dangit. i had a spelling error in an important part. had to re-do

    a. i always pictured u with a russian accent. dissapointed.

    b. i like the smooth jams in the background

    c. your boobs are big. and you are tiny. wtf.

    d. this is not the first time ive talked about your boobs. Ahn and i have talked about them behind your back. see: jealous

    e. just scrolled through the comments and saw Ahns. told you. boob obsessed.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Have to admit, sat through the whole thing. Glad to hear I'm not the only one that has a tendency to talk to myself in awkward situations.

If you're ever in an area that has the Dailey Method you'll adore it... I love it!

Thanks for the Vlog, love hearing bloggers voices... that sounds creep. Okay, enough out of me.

  101. Could you PLEASE post a picture of your haircut? Front, back, side!!! I want your haircut!! NOW! Please and thank you!!

    Love the vlog.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I finally got a chance to watch this, because I wasn't about to start if I couldn't enjoy all thirteen minutes, and yay! Vlog again and then again.

Now I want to leave comments on your blog that don't apply to the writing. Like this one I would say, "Thanks for sharing hair tips!"

And I'd like to include some hate for the fact that you had no pregnancy workout other than walking.

And I'm so glad you drink soda. Phew.

    ReplyDelete
  103. best thirteen minutes of my day.

    randoooom comment? (:

    ReplyDelete
  104. Those thirteen minutes went by so fast! Your personality is just how imagined it would be from your posts. Loved it! Please do more?

    ReplyDelete
  105. Love the vlog! The 13 minutes went by fast, which means that you need to do another one!

I am totally looking up Stephanie Nielsons blog right now.

Also, Gracie is a beautiful dog.

And I got my ds2's name from a blog too! Everyone looks at me like I'm crazy! Glad I'm not the only one!!

    ReplyDelete
  106. That foreplay comment made my day:)

    ReplyDelete
  107. Just de-lurking to say: umlaut over an "o" is not Norwegian -- it is Swedish (and I think maybe Icelandic and German?) only. Maybe I heard you wrong, though.

    ReplyDelete
  108. this. vlog. was. so. worth. the. wait.

    BEAUTIFUL house. PRETTY pictures. :)

    ReplyDelete
  109. you are so fly! ;-)
i was cracking up at your "i check my email all the time" comment, then followed up with "oh wait, maybe i shouldn't share that!" hahahaha. i totally know the feeling...

loved this vlog- hope you do it again!

    ReplyDelete
  110. dude. how many days later and i JUST had the time to watch?!
    oh, life.

    two things:
i probably wouldn't have watched the whole thing if i didn't already feel like i know you - which i do, so i did. you're totally how i expected you'd be, too. which is totally a compliment. loved seeing you in action.

i'm the 113th commenter! holy moly. (i think my record is like 10 comments on one post!!) so i'm definitely the last person on earth to have watched.

    xoxo!!

  111. I think your vlog is really great, and I really really just hope that you continue to make more. It's weird how when we read bloggers all the time we start to have these ideas for how they are and the voices that they'll have. Sometimes when I read foreign blogs I'm still surprised to hear that they have accents. Anyways, you have a really good presence in front of the camera, and you're sort of what I expected as far as being so young and beautiful, but so wise and grown up in every way. Steve is so lucky to have you, and I'm glad to hear you got over those insecurities over things past (and how frustrating it can be sometimes that everything is new to you...) But all of those things do bring around whole new dynamics that I really enjoy hearing "reading" you talk about on your blog. My husband is 12 years my senior and although I mostly feel our relationship is quite perfect it's hard to find people who relate to me when we do have issues. It's a whole different world when your husband is older, and to me, it's a better one.

x! Keep up the lovely blogging and vlogging!

  116. And I specifically just used the 'find' function to search for both Megan and Ahnika's comments. Cause I knew there would be several. At least. Kinda thought Parker would be in it too. And more of your breaSTS. AND also, Ahnika claims that her boobs haven't grown at all. I think she's lying.
Megan just inspired me. Maybe I'll do a vlog in a Russian accent...

  117. I loved this! Sorry, I might be a little late, but seriously, I loved this. You are too cute - and it was fun to watch you chat about everything. (And now following you on Instagram and Parker is THE CUTEST and looks JUST LIKE his dad - so cute!)
