this was 1987. when my mom sent them around my first question was, "WHERE AM I?!" since i was three at the time, and nowhere to be found (though my mom is suspect that i'm one of the little ones on the dock) then who knows if i was busy climbing on the counters in the kitchen, playing with matches and knives while my parents listened to johnny cash and drank cocktails on the dock. nice one, mom and dad. but, even so, these videos are fun. skip ahead to 2:00 to see my gangly father sashay (because that's all that it can be called) in with a cigar and then my mother at 3:00 put on a little dance.
if you want more, and i can't imagine you do, there's some more dancing in this one.
and now you should be able to spot my parents.
and now you should be able to spot my parents.
again, where's three year old bridget you ask? might she be floating down the bay gasping for air?
altogether possible.

i went to bed thinking about these guys last night.
i woke up thinking about them.
i have little to say because all i can think about is them!
but i want to send you over there so more people can read what is going on with pip, reagan, and jake
and maybe there is someone out there with a connection or something who can help this situation.
thanks guys.
there's an update! go to reagan's blob for the latest!!!!

and the rainbow cake idea wasn't originally mine as i'm sure most of you know. it's made its way around the web cause it's AMAZING. mine turned out nothing close to as cool as the original but it was fun nevertheless. next time (like there'll be one)? i need more icing between the layers. but, in an attempt for less sugar-invasion, i didn't use much. oh well. after a few slices were dealt, i threw the rest of it away too. something that colorful cannot be good for you. but it was fun to serve and surprise lindsey with.
damn you, photobucket.
until photobucket registers the fact that i did just upgrade to pro, it looks like we'll all have the pleasure of these little 'exceeded bandwidth' notices. fun fun.
sorry.
and i was told it could actually take a few days! anyone know from experience?
happy sunday.

i love strawberries. i l-o-v-e them.
(and the snack i seriously swoon over and i truly feel that that word is grossly overused so when i say swoon i mean swoon is strawberries cut up with full-fat stonyfield french vanilla yogurt. it's like so good it's sinful. sinful i say! the devil's work, right there in the bowl!)
thoughts on a friday.
lindsey turns 9 on monday. i can hardly believe it. 9 years old! she was 3 when i started babysitting and 4 when we got married so this means i've really been her mom for more than half of her life. crazy. she's funny as ever and this year her birthday list said literally this: "pilgrim clothes, gardening tools, seeds for garden." um, what?
nathaniel is going off to college in the fall. holy moly. there used to be days that i hoped this day would come sooner than later (this would be no surprise to him). now, he is a young man who is polite and kind and and has a really good head on his shoulders. unlike a lot of teenage boys, he doesn't swear or act cool just to one-up the next guy (i know you might be thinking, "sure, not around you guys." but seriously... the kids' moral conscience is better than mine... not that that's hard.). i like that about him and i'm seriously going to miss him when he goes. luckily, he's going close by so we'll still see a lot of him (and he'll need to get to know his baby brother, of course). i'm going with him on his "tour the college" day and i am hoping i don't get mistaken as a) a knocked up student or b) his knocked up girlfriend. neither would be preferable, thanks.
i bought these for the baby and am slowly collecting cute little things. i won't be buying him too much because a) money's tight in these times and b) with a nephew a few months older than him, the hand-me-downs are coming like mad but these were too cute to pass up. got 'em at zulilly -- wanna join?
our dear friends are coming over tonight and we are making fully loaded nachos with guac and punch and hearing how life is as newlyweds (them, not us) and then watching darjeeling limited. i can't wait.
oh AND i just became twitter friends with emily and brad. i say twitter friends but really they'd have to follow me for that to be legit so i guess i'll just say i became a twitter-stalker and will continue trying to befriend emily and share her clothes. her maxi dresses are the bomb and would really suit my prego belly.
what's on your list for the weekend?

today we have a sponsor giveaway from a specialty foods company, salt traders. a little over a month ago they sent me their salt blend collection and has it ever been fun to use in my kitchen. the labeling is cute (always a plus) and the combinations are endless (on the side of each salt, they even give you ideas of how to use it!).
here are some things i did: i tried the sagemary salt on mashed potatoes... divine. the smoked paprika on a breakfast of scrambled eggs and homefries... yum. the aleppo chile salt sprinkled on some pizza... mmhmm. i mixed the porcini salt in with olive oil, apple cider vinegar, and fresh lemon juice to make the perfect salad dressing. the vanilla salt will have to wait until it can rim my glass of rum and coke after baby arrives. you get the point. endless i tell you, endless!
lucky for you they are giving away not one but THREE of their salt blend collections. that's three winners, woot woot! perfect for you, your mom or dad, or the hostess-with-the-mostest whose invited you over for easter. pair it with a bottle of wine and you are done!
be sure to check out their website as the products go far beyond salt: flavored oils, cocoa blends, sugars, raw honey (my fave & with a fabulous logo to boot!), and more.

i'm heading upstairs last night after being out all day. steve's sitting on the couch downstairs. he yells up, "there might be something for the baby in our room!" i'm expecting there'll be some cute onesie or a little pair of booties sitting there amongst our bedspread and pillows. but no. there is a little tikes basketball hoop in the corner of our room. "kids love these!" he says.
i'm sure they do, steve, i'm sure they do.
(for the record, it was sweet and i am grateful.
i was just expecting something he could use before the age of four... ohhh husband).
i'm here today too if you want to hear about how legit-crazy i am.

so i seriously feel like i GREW UP in the 80's. like... a true 80's child. granting, yes, i was born in '84 but most of my real formative years were more in the 90's. still, having older sisters as some of your main idols, you learned from them. so, tears for fears, OMD, pretty in pink, madonna, breakfast club, simple minds (seriously, don't you forget about me was one of my favorite songs when i was like 8 years old), the clash, cars, and a-ha were my growing-up culture. my poor mom. madonna wasn't such a good role model. she couldn't have been thrilled by all of it (i mean, this was in the thick of madonna's pointy-bra phase). nevertheless, i turned out ok. i think.
i came across this video tonight and had to post it because it is so 80's and SO corny. like gag corny. but i have always liked this song. just never knew this corny video went along with it. oh wang chung.

must-haves for life and/or pregnancy.
i say must-haves for life and/or pregnancy because these don't all apply to pregnancy. i refuse to bore you non-pregnant friends of mine, plus, some of these i seriously enjoyed before getting pregnant and have just come to appreciate them even more now that i am pregnant. so there.
1. jason lavender shampoo & conditioner. i am not really a hair care snob. in fact, pantene might be my fave smelling stuff there is but upon finding out i was growing a little human, i switched to the sulfate-free stuff and this was my choice when perusing the aisles of whole foods. i like it. it smells nice and i feel good about it. doesn't get as sudsy as the standard stuff but so what?
2. coconut oil. you all know i already use this as my face lotion, but now it can be belly and boob lotion! for all the stretching skin that is going to be taut and itchy as the months go. woowee! and it's good for you and your skin.
3. ingrid & isabel rouched tank. i bought this before i was even pregnant because they're so long and comfy and it fit totally fine. and now i can continue wearing it because all the rouching along the side allows for a lot of belly stretching. and seriously, so long, and so comfy.
4. life factory glass bottle. i go nowhere without this. big enough for lemon slices, for a sponge, can go in the dishwasher... this is my favorite bottle of all time. and if you break the glass, keep the rubber coat because you can buy an insert for $8!
5. kicky pants onesie. the first thing i bought for babe a few weeks ago. it's bamboo so it's seriously soft and it's just really precious. he'll probably wear it like twice before growing out of it but i did it anyway.
6. a body pillow. my sister lent me hers from target and i love her for it. it's soooooo cozy and soft and it fits all along my body from head to toe. steve tries to steal it sometimes (seriously) but then i tell him who's boss.
also, i was asked to do a maternity-fashion post and i plan on it, but to be quite honest, i don't know much because i am just getting to the point of seriously not fitting my normal clothes (unless they're drawstring pants or super long shirts or... maxi dresses... my new love). so, i am looking for any tips YOU ladies have on what worked for you while you were pregnant. and links would be lovely too :) i don't plan on spending much money on maternity clothes at all but rather get by with what i have and a few choice items from other places (i find that when it's called "maternity" the price tag automatically doubles!).

if you've been reading then you know i loved the finale. brad chose emily. good choice, my man. you'd be crazy to let that girl go. of course, i have thoughts. and entertain me, if you will...
she's adorable. like sooo adorable. i basically told steve it'd be okay if he had a crush on her cause she's perfect and so classy. but he did say that he really liked me and is glad i'm the one he's got. good answer. whether he's saying it to ensure he keeps gettin' some or not, good answer.
her clothes are the best. i want to swap closets with her. and does she do her own hair? she's good at it.
chantal, i felt really bad for you. this is the first finale where i truly liked both girls (despite the fact that i so wanted emily to win). it's gotta be hard going up against who america is describing as mother teresa. i mean, nothing bad can be said about emily (though tabloids will try to) and that's gotta suck! but glad you have someone now chantal.
i thought it was odd how emily said she seemed uptight and boring throughout her bachelor stint. how she wishes she'd be taken on more fun dates. i get what she means. she didn't seem super spunky and that she would really hold her own in a marriage until the after the final rose. why? how she jumped up when brad asked for water like "let me get it for you!" and then we see her on the finale with brad all in the doghouse every monday night. it was a little confusing. maybe it was abc's editing or that she was pretty reserved in reality but whichever the case, i am glad she's got a little more spunk to her. do you think she'll ever fart in front of him though? prob not.
the silly hollywood part of me wanted them to be all blissfully happy when we saw them in after the final rose but it's better that they are real and i think it was smart of her to say she wanted to live beyond the after the final rose and the monday nights and just live and learn how to communicate. and he is SMITTEN with her so i think if anyone ends this, it'll be her. though i hope not.
they have a 14-year age difference. a woman after my own heart! go em go!
i think that's it. i do think they'll make it. or i really hope so anyway.
OH, one more thought. didn't like how brad said he was getting shot down and "mad" at their last date when she was telling him about the reality of being a father. I TOTALLY GET THAT. she wanted no surprises and for him to, months down the road, be like "this SUCKS, why didn't you tell me?" then she and ricky lose him. so she should make NO apologies for that. and i'm done.

i got an email from a blog reader living in japan right now. she is safe (alleluia!) and wanted me to share this site which allows you to easily donate through facebook, itunes, texting, etc. check it out unless you've already got your own favorite charity.
have you heard the rob bell hoopla over the past day or so? maybe not. check it out. i think religious discussions are some of the coolest there are. as long as each person is willing to agree to disagree nicely. otherwise, they suck. well, i want to read this book really badly. i like love a lot. and i soooooooooooooooooooo hope the title of the book is true. that love wins.
i love my husband so much. he's hilarious and has been making me smile a lot these days.
i woke up at 6 this morning to pee and then could hardly go back to sleep because i was dreaming of nurseries. an exciting thing to dream about but i'd like it if my head could wait until the more normal hours of the day to do so.
my chest is large and in charge like it's never been before. in fact, when i walk around i think babies begin to clutch at their own mom's chest desperate to nurse. did your chest double in size when/if you got pregnant?
fyi: sponsors can start any day of the month. the whole only-starting-the-first-of-the-month biznaz didn't make much sense to me. email me if you'd like more info?
i'm going to learn to meditate at a class with this lovely lady today. i've been wanting to learn to meditate for forever now and she's the greatest so i think it'll be a good day. and the sun is out too!
how are you?

chelsea is a cool chick. first of all, she used to live in dominica and girlfriend was tan and beachy all year long. then, her husband has great curly hair. then, her daughter tate with the cute blonde bob says sweet and silly things to her mom which i then read on chelsea's blog. and finally, chelsea is pregnant with twin boys and has great taste so i can just copycat all of her boy ideas for my own! score!
she also has a fabulous etsy shop called tatertots. in it you'll find really cute handmade clips. didn't i say they were cute?
lucky for you, chelsea is giving away a $30 gift certificate to her shop.

sometimes it's hard to wake up and think of a blog post when you open the home page (mine being bbc) and it's splattered with sadness (which is, let's be honest, every single day). this morning's being japan's earthquake and tsunami (it's not like japan has the market on sadness either. it's happening every day everywhere. damn.) i actually watched some footage of waves storming through neighborhoods, fields, and roads like it was nothing. there are people in that water right now, i thought.
man.
i'll never understand. but nevertheless, i'm sending my energies to the people caught up in this awful mess right now. that mess and all the messes. you're not alone.

have you guys seeeeeeen this website?
you probably have cause i'm never the first to spot a new thing on the interwebs and it's not like it's new anyway but it's pretty dang cool. i'm sure cup of jo had it on her blog at some point or another (but in all fairness, i think she gets like 8,542 people who will email her saying "jo, jo! this is perfect. put it on your site.) tales of me and the husband, however, is a one-man show. so i'm slow on the uptake.
anyway, it's a conglomeration of pretty parties basically. ones that you just want to copy completely and then claim as your own.
can it get any better than that?
it can. but that question made sense to ask.
also, it makes me wish i was planning my own baby shower, but that would be stupid (no pressure mom, sisters... promise i'd be perfectly content with just striped straws.)
and this afternoon... a bump picture will be makin' its way to you. why this afternoon?
remember, one-man show.

women tell all... ooh, this was a juicy one full of tears and crazies. just the way i like it!
starting with the obvious...michelle money.
i must say i sort of wanted to come to her defense like britt (britt seems like a class act) because while she was totally ms. crazy-pants, and she was, some of her interviews were so over the top that there had to be sarcasm in there. one thing they didn't ask is why her silent limo exit? anyway, i felt sorta bad for her but i also wanted her to stop saying 'i left my daughter for this.' we get it michelle. and who is stacy anyway? did she make it past the first episode? why did she have such an ax to grind?
jackie, back up. your dumb train (the musical group, not the locomotive) date was not soooo special enough that you need to attack all the other girls. baaaaack up.
shawntel, why so quiet? you are one of my faves and you hardly said a word.
ashley, you looked really cute and i think were poised and put together. nicely done. liked the dress and the red lips too. i heard you might be the next bachelorette... true?
as for the final rose... i think it's emily. or should be. what guy would be crazy enough to say goodbye to her??? chantal is great, i really have nothing against her, but emily is sooooo darn sophisticated and mature and adorable and--have you seen her say ANYTHING MEAN ABOUT ANYONE on camera ever?? he's smitten with her and careful of her feelings and wanting to make her feel special all the time... he's in loooove. but, abc does like to edit to throw us off, so... one never knows.

i was in pennsylvania/nj this weekend. i had the absolute honor of being the godmother to this most amazing little nephew of mine, quinn. he's like the sweetest baby ever. a lot of people say that. not all mean it. i mean it. he doesn't really stop smiling unless he seriously needs something or unless he's just chillaxin' which he likes to do sometimes.
and this is his first food--a sweet potato. he liked it for the most part.
and now i am home and ready to tackle the laundry and vacuuming and the week ahead. but, steve did a good job at keeping down the fort without me. including a spit and polished third floor. loooove that man.
have a fabulous week.

the sweetest knit from sweet ahnika in california to keep your head warm in cold winters here
a book your mama's been reading to try to get ready to welcome you into the world
and a journal from your mama to you... with all her thoughts and fears and joys as you grow
the softest onesie ever... your mama's first baby purchase. can't believe you'll be so small to fit in it
a sweet owl from your cousin quinn... he can't wait to meet you
and you... the little guy who all this is for. would you believe it if we told you we loved you already?
and a song your mama's been listening to while she thinks about you...
one day you'll be in her arms listening to it together.
