well, it's true.  the days on the beach have turned quickly into chilly nights and chillier mornings.  but, with that, comes apple-picking, pumpkin bread, blankets, and apple cider.  

we took one last trip to plum island with our good friends.  it was a beautiful day-- warm but certainly not swimming weather (for most of us, anyway).  we had a great spread of food and good company.

today was a big day.  william and lindsey, who have only ever been home-schooled (by becky, and oh how we will miss her!), went off to our local public school: pine grove.  lindsey is in 2nd now and william is in 4th.  the day started early with a 6:50 am knock on our bedroom door... in walked the both of them dressed and with their backpacks on.  this is no exaggeration.  for william, this isn't a shocker, but lindsey is no early riser.  they were excited, well lindsey was mostly... william was a little nervous.  as we watched them get on their bus at 8:00, it was a bit emotional (a few little tears is all)... for us, not them... but then they arrived home with happy tales of their first day.
